Cores Supporting the Centers Research

Administrative Core (Core A)

Rose Marie Robertson, MD, FAHA
American Heart Association

Aruni Bhatnagar, PhD
University of Louisville

The Administrative Core is led by the Center Directors, who, with assistance from the Program Administrators, facilitate communication and collaboration between individual Cores and Projects, and provide scientific and logistic oversight for Center activities.

The Core‘s activities include scientific integration of overall research, statistical support, administrative and strategic oversight, managing the rapid response program, acting as the liaison for all TCORS-wide activities and reporting to the funding agencies about the Center’s progress and direction.

Career Enhancement Core (CEC/Core B)

Emelia J. Benjamin, MD, ScM, FACC, FAHA
Boston University

The Core is leveraging the outstanding expertise, facilities, infrastructure, and research experience at our nine institutions and utilizing the broad portfolio of AHA-affiliated institutions’ research and training programs. The overall goal of the Career Enhancement Core is to:

  1. Develop the next-generation of diverse, multidisciplinary TRS scientists at all career stages, funded by the pilots and projects/cores via a virtual and in-person longitudinal CEC program.
  2. Provide funding, guidance, and administration for 3-4 pilot projects annually in years 1-5 to catalyze early career TRS scientists’ progression to independence.
  3. Conduct robust ATRAC 2.0 CEC and mentor training evaluation to promote continual improvement in TRS training; collaborate with the cross-TCORS training workgroup; and publish CEC research.

Bioanalytic and Biomarkers Core (BBC/Core C)

Sanjay Srivastava, PhD
University of Louisville

The goal of the Bioanalytics and Biomarkers Core (Core C) is to provide high quality analytical services, biomarker measurements and validated data in support of all research projects supported by the Center.

The Core aims to support ATRAC projects with technical and analytical expertise in mass spectrometry, flow cytometry and pathological measurements, continue to develop new techniques and protocols for such processes and educate and train investigators in this work.
